DON’T LET HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF

I just watched the PBS Special directed by Ken Burns, “U.S and the Holocaust”. A must watch but also a haunting reminder of yet another holocaust playing out in Europe. This past week the United Nations has been in session and the war in Ukraine has dominated the General Assembly. The U.N. panel convened said that Russian troops have raped and tortured children in Ukraine.

For God sake what does it take before the world says enough and puts an end to this sociopath? Stealing Ukrainian territory and threatening nuclear war makes Russia no better than Nazi Germany. Putin’s/Hitler moment will be defined by the theft tomorrow of the territories his army was too incompetent to win on the battlefield. It will be defined by the fact that he is putting the continued existence of humankind at grave risk.

With the army in shambles and very little money left to rebuild it, Russia is facing a dilemma that any non-nuclear country would consider a good reason for surrender. Defeated on the battlefield, regardless of whether Russia mobilizes 300,000 it still won’t be able to effectively train these soldiers. So many more of those 300,000 and so more Ukrainians will have to die. Putin is now making that we can all die.

Add 300,000 or 3 million and Russia still won’t be able to supply those troops with modern weapons given the amount that has already been destroyed or simply abandoned. Ukrainians have proven to be tougher, smarter, and simply superior in all areas when compared to the morally-empty Russian soldiers.

Ukraine, however, does not have nuclear weapons and Russia does. Putin and his advisors now realize that because of their grave mistake, Russia is on the brink of being a major nation with no army left. That is why they are out there everywhere threatening nuclear Armageddon. Russia’s unexpected defeat at the hands of Ukraine has pushed Putin to make the decision that rather than lose, Russia will end humankind instead. This is blackmail. All over the world, and because of Russia, humans are fearing that this could be the last winter of our lives.

The continued support by Russians of their Hitleresque leader is also unforgivable. Russia and Russians will not be let off the hook for this Putin moment unless they finally wake up and revolt — drag him and many more to the prisons so they can be tried for crimes against humanity. Russia has said that should anyone attack the newly-annexed territories, then the response will be immediate and destructive. Russia will make official its theft of Ukrainian lands. It will then declare any attempt to free those lands as attacks on Russia proper; and, a reason for them to use nuclear weapons.

The Kremlin signaled that if Russia were to go forward with annexation — even if no other countries recognized it — any further military action by Ukraine in those regions could be seen as an attack on Russia itself, justifying any military response by the nation with the world’s largest nuclear arsenal (Russia Signals Annexation).

Vladimir Putin is pushing the world to the brink of a fiery end and there is little or nothing we can now do but watch.

It’s time he’s extinguished before it’s too late!
